                ——Jacques Ranciére(法国哲学家)
Felipe Esparza
Felipe Esparza
Fernando Sarmiento (秘鲁艺术/电影批评家)

"The look that renounces to understand and, at the same time, leaves exposed the inhuman, beyond all banalization."
                                                               ——Jacques Ranciére
The films and images of Felipe Esparza are constructed from his own personal deconstruction with respect to the territory of the sacred and the mystery from his childhood. From there he adopts a nihilistic position that makes him think of the most primitive side of the human being, approaching mystery through his own language. Using video in a primitive and hypnotic way, and understanding that verbal language has its difficulties and is insufficient to express phenomena and experiences (moments in time).  Reality, as Jaques Lacan says, is what remains outside of the symbolic order and, consequently, incapacitates language to represent it.
In his works, there is a marked interest in social contents and a courageous exploration of themes such as the sacred and its symbolic drifts and the relationship between image and time, image and history and image and truth. Felipe Esparza tackles the complex representation of these themes by elaborating visual narratives in which the contemporary visual imaginary coexists with the archive and with local and universal cultural codes.
His holistic vision offers transcendent experiences between being and totality, between the individual and the surrounding universe, through contemplation and sensory impulses that are composed in audiovisual harmonies.
Fernando Sarmiento (秘鲁艺术/电影批评家)
